Traditional wedding, microwedding, elopement, intimate wedding. If you’re in the midst of planning your big day, you might be seeing these buzzwords pop up… everywhere. It can sometimes be a little difficult to figure out exactly what the difference is between them all! In this blog post, I’ll be answering the question “What is an intimate wedding?” for you and your spouse-to-be. As an intimate wedding photographer myself, there are few FAQ’s that I get asked pretty consistently, so hopefully answers will help you out in the wedding planning process.
How many guests are included in an intimate wedding?
Usually a follow up question to “What is an intimate wedding?”! The beauty of smaller weddings (and one of the reasons I love them so much) is that there aren’t a large number of guests. Of course, a large guest count has its pros, but there’s something about having just your closest family and friends there to witness the declaration of your love. At most intimate weddings, there are typically around 20 guests or less in attendance.
How much does intimate wedding photography cost?
Apart from skill and experience, wedding photography costs are usually based on how many hours of coverage you need for your day. And just because you’re having an intimate wedding, doesn’t mean you have to cut it short! My intimate wedding packages start at $3000 for an 8 hour day, which is the average length.
Why do I need a photographer all day?
Excellent question! Like I just mentioned, an intimate wedding does not equate to a short wedding. You can still cherish all the special moments as you should a larger wedding. The getting ready process, having a first look, cutting your cake, having one last dance after all your guests leave the reception. All of those can and should absolutely still be documented, no matter what the size of your wedding is!
Do I need to have a wedding party?
Usually a follow up question to “What is an intime wedding?”!Short answer, no. No matter what, your wedding day should be any and everything that you want it to be. Especially because you’re already having a small guest list, you might just want everyone to enjoy the day instead of worrying about being in the wedding. At the end of the day, it’s always up to you and your partner!
What type of vendors should we hire?
When asking “What is an intimate wedding?”, chances are you’re wondering what vendors are usually hired for one. First off, obviously you should hire a photographer. Preferably one that already has experience with shooting intimate weddings! In addition, I would still recommend hiring a DJ or a live band to provide some entertainment for you and your guests. If the wedding planning process is stressing you the heck out, hiring a planner or coordinator might be a great vendor for you to invest in. And if you want to take the experience up a notch, you can also hire something like craft bartenders to really get the party going.
