Joshua Tree has so much to offer for engagement photos. You can be adventurous and explore deep into the park or pick any spot on the side of the roads. There are endless epic views all throughout Joshua Tree. Something I love most about Joshua Tree is the peaceful energy. It’s very serene and quiet, which makes for a great spot for photos. If you’re looking for an easily accessible location with pretty views of the sunset and some interesting rock formations, consider Cap Rock!

There are 3 things you should know when planning your engagement session at Cap Rock:

  1. Pets are not allowed at Cap Rock. Unfortunately, this location is not pet friendly. Dogs are not allowed on the trails throughout Cap Rock. Dogs are only allowed within 100ft of any paved/unpaved road and picnic areas. If you’re wanting a pet friendly spot so you can get some photos with your pup, Quail Springs Picnic Area is much more accommodating.
  2. The sunset is much earlier at Cap Rock. This location is surrounded by mountains and sits a little lower in the park. Plan for sunset to be about 20 minutes earlier than other areas.
  3. Cap Rock is popular for tourists on the weekends. It’s right off the main road which makes it easy to access. If your session is on a weekend, you might consider a different location inside the park or ask me about some of my secret, low key spots!
